At ETG, we believe that EDM machines stand as the cornerstone of modern-day precision manufacturing. Working with some of the global leaders, including Winbro, Mitsubishi Electric and OPS Ingersoll, we’ve ensured that these EDM machines deliver in providing exceptional accuracy, efficiency and reliability.
The versatility of the EDM machine allows for the creation of intricate and complex shapes and cuts, as well as fine surface finishes, helping you to achieve the highest standards of quality.
Thanks to the relationship with our EDM machine partners, we’re able to distribute machinery across the UK and Ireland. We offer a turnkey solution, which has been developed to help you not only gain access to the best EDM machines on the market but also our detailed and comprehensive training, machine maintenance and repairs as and when needed.
We offer the whole package: lifelong care for your EDM machine, quality customer service support and service packages. As well as this, we also provide installation and onboarding of our EDM machines and we’re happy to train your staff on the operation of your new machinery to ensure precision, efficiency and high-quality results, every time.
EDM machines can cut any material which is conductive, such as steel, titanium, brass, aluminium, tungsten carbide and alloys. Thanks to the machine’s accuracy, EDM cutting has become a conventional cutting method across a range of industries, with machine parts and logos cut with ease.
EDM machining, particularly wire EDM machining, is renowned for its high level of accuracy. Modern EDM machines can achieve very tight tolerances, particularly those which use advanced CNC controls.
Levels of +/- 0.0002” (0.0005mm) is the most widely accepted reported accuracy when using EDM machines. This allows for precise cuts to be made on complex shapes and, as such, this then makes these parts suitable for use in industries where tight tolerances are required, including aerospace, powder metal tooling, moulds and press tools and medical.
EDM machines offer advantages over traditional machines as they enable the machining of conductive materials, irrespective of their hardness, and facilitate the creation of intricate and complex shapes with precision. EDM machines use a non-contact process which minimises workpiece stress and damage, yields fine surface finishes and offers versatility across a range of industries. EDM machines offer a significant advantage compared to traditional machining in demanding manufacturing applications.
Consistent and regular upkeep of EDM machines is vital for ensuring optimal performance, continued accuracy and longevity. Maintenance of EDM machines can involve regular checks and cleaning, monitoring of dielectric fluid quality and overall general machine cleanliness. Typically, a bit of TLC will take around 1hr per working week, on average.
Daily tasks can include cleaning and wiping down of the work area and checking fluid levels, whilst weekly tasks can include a more thorough clean. At ETG, we offer servicing and support for our machine customers which provides you with regular maintenance, breakdown call outs and technical and training support as and when it is needed.
